The Oulu Museum of Art (OMA) is an art museum in the Oulu neighborhood of Myllytulli. It is located at the edge of the Hupisaaret Islands Reserve. The museum was opened to the public on 12 October 1963. The first premises were situated in the so-called Kolmiotalo in the city centre. After its founding, the museum has concentrated primarily on the work of northern Finnish artists. The former Veljekset Åström Leather Factory Office and Glue Plant is the newer part of the museum site. The red brick building was designed by the architect Birger Federley and completed in 1921. It was reopened as an art gallery in 1988-1990. The postmodern extension was also built at the time.

9. Tietomaa

Tietomaa is a science center based in Oulu, Finland. It is situated in the district of Myllytulli, near the center of the city. This is the first research center in Finland to be opened to the public on 29 June 1988. Tietomaa is situated in the old buildings of Veljekset Åström Oy, a former leather factory. The main exhibits are in the old power station. The 45-metre (148 ft) observation tower with a glass elevator outside the tower is a former water tower in the factory. Tietomaa also houses a large film theatre, which at its opening was the first-ever purpose-built IMAX cinema in Finland and the Nordic countries. In 2013, the IMAX network was replaced by the Barco 4 K network.
