Visit the Top 10 places in Heidelberg with Coach Charter Germany - your coach charter company
Heidelberg is a historic university town that has remained unscathed since the 18th century, with the popular destinations for tourists in Germany. Chartered bus has to admit Heidelberg, thanks to its picturesque riverside location, is one of the most romantic cities in Germany. Bus rental will be delighted to show you beautiful old buildings and bridges, and the ruins of the castle that overlook the city center.

Hauptstrasse runs free of traffic through the Altstadt (Old Town), past the Palatinate Museum and the 16th-century Renaissance buildings; next to it, along the Neckar River, is the Neckarstaden, where the University of Heidelberg's art collection, the Stadthalle and the tour boat landing points are located. The Bergbahn, a Kornmarkt-operated mountain railway, helps enter from the Altstadt into Heidelberg Castle. Our Coach Charter Germany bus company can support you with airport shuttle transfers or full day bus rental services in Heidelberg. If you're traveling in private, with a large group or on company, our modern tour bus fleet offers you a wide variety of chartered bus vehicles.

As experts in Heidelberg and tour bus services, we would like to give you some tips on what you should not skip on your trip to Heidelberg. Here are our top 10 Heidelberg attractions to visit:

1. Heidelberg Castle

Perched 80 meters above the Altstadt and Neckar is Heidelberg's former seat of the Prince Electors, now one of the finest ruins in the world. The castle started as a fortress in the 13th century, but during the 15th and 16th centuries it was expanded into a palace constructed for the Heidelberg imperial rulers.

2. Old Bridge

Crossing the Neckar between the Altstadt and Neuenheim district on the right bank, the Alte Brücke dates back to 1788, during Elector Charles Theodore's reign in its present form. This structure, though more than 200 years old, is the ninth bridge to be constructed at this location. Chartered bus suggests visiting two sculpture collections embellishing the bridge, one paying tribute to Charles Theodore and one to the Roman goddess Minerva.

3. Kurpfälzisches Museum

Heidelberg's Palatinate Museum is housed in the 18th century Palais Morass and contains painting, sculpture and applied arts, as well as archaeology documenting the long human history of the Lower Neckar Valley and Heidelberg as the Palatinate Electoral Residence. Bus rental guarantee that you'll find rooms furnished in 1700s and 1800s styles and rich in glassware.

4. Deutsches Apotheken-Museum

A museum detailing the history of pharmacy and medical science in Germany is located in all 11 rooms at Schloss Heidelberg. The museum has what is considered to be the world's largest collection of earthenware from the 18th century, as well as important majolica, faience and technical glass containers and equipment from the 1600s to the 1800s.

5. Old town

Heidelberg's historic old town sits in the shadow of the remains of the Schloss Heidelberg. The Altstadt has many things people enjoy about old German quarters; sociable squares with bar terraces at the Kornmarkt and Marktplatz, paved streets and a number of historic landmarks. Chartered bus suggests visiting Gothic or Baroque churches or monuments such as Mary's statue on Kornmarkt in 1718. One of the interesting features of the Altstadt is its standard Baroque appearance, a result of fires triggered by a French assault in 1693 during the Nine Years' War.

6. Heiligenberg

Bus rental suggests that you take a detour off the Philosophenweg to visit Heiligenberg for a while. This 440 meter high sandstone hill features Heidelberg's oldest housing signs. You can also ascend two observation towers: The Heiligenbergturm dates back to the 19th century, but it was constructed with sandstone blocks from the late 11th century monastery of St Stephen.

7. Studentenkarzer

On Augustinergasse, there is a small jail in a baroque building at the back of the Old University, where students were briefly locked up for minor offences. The bus company advises that you visit the Studentenkarzer because of the graffiti and the photos that students admire for their accomplishments on the walls of the jail.

8. House of the Knight

Each who visits to Heidelberg's Altstadt requires a stop at this magnificent house, the oldest burgher home in town. The Haus zum Ritter was created in 1592 for the textile merchants Franziska and Carolus Belier, Protestants who had left Valenciennes under Habsburg rule. Tour bus will remind it that it is the only burger house that survived the fire at Heidelberg in 1693 during the Nine Years War and only recently resumed its current role as a hotel, although it served as a guest house 300 years ago..

9. Neckarwiese

Idyllically situated on the right side of Neuenheim, the largest green space in central Heidelberg is. The Neckarwiese cuts inland for a length of 50 metres, and there are alder groves, lime trees, poplars and willows, as well as chestnut-traced avenues between its wide lawns. The park is full of happy people, enjoying picnics and barbecues during warm summer days.

10. Heidelberg Zoo

The Heidelberg Zoo is of course worth a visit, particularly if you are traveling with young people. Bus rental will admit there is also the Oldest Botanic Garden in Germany. This zoological park has more than 1,100 animals on the north bank of the Neckar River, containing some 250 species.
