The morning sightseeing tour of Bavaria’s capital starts with its 15th C. landmark Church Of Our Lady, the beautiful City Hall and its Carillon, the Residence Palace built for the former dukes of Wittelbach, its famous beer hall Hofbraeuhas, the Olympic ground and Nymphenburg Palace to visit its outstanding Horse Carriage Museum of former King Ludwig II with a great display of splendid coaches, sedan chairs, the coronation coach of the first Wittelbach Emperor Karl VII and incomparable sledges of eccentric King Ludwig II. – Remaining day is at your complete disposal. – For tonight you are invited at one of Munich’s special restaurants for dinner with Bavarian music and local folklore entertainment. You leave Munich this morning by motor coach for an easy transfer to the beautiful city of Friedrichshafen where the first Zeppelin took to the air and where you spend the following six nights. As a highlight today you are invited for lunch at a private German home to enjoy a tasty and typical Swabian meal. Later, and with impressions of hospitality transfer to your hotel and spend the afternoon at your leisure. (B & L & D/ OV)
Today’s motor coach excursion takes you first along beautiful 3-country Lake Constance, share its fertile shores with Germany, Austria and Switzerland and soon arrive at Schaffhausen to view its impressive Rhine River Falls. Nearby, we stop at one of Switzerland’s most picturesque little towns Stein on the banks of the Rhine to admire its old burgher house from the 15th and 16th. C. with colorful paintings depict scenes of the former life and the town’s history. – Following a break we re-enter Germany and its fabled Black Forest, attracted by its dark coniferous woodland, journey through beautiful valleys, health resorts and shop for Germany’s famous cuckoo-clocks, browse around or just relax at the lake watching sailing boats passing by. – Then its time to return to Lake Constance and to your hotel for freshen up before dinner. Your morning drive takes you back to Switzerland, today further south to its capital Bern, one of Europe’s best preserved medieval cities. You will see its historic sites with the Church of the Holy Spirit, the Prison Tower Gate of the 13th C. and its much visited Clock Tower. Enjoy here its lively alleys, old burgher houses with turrets and oriel windows, statues and beautiful fountains before our route continues to Lucerne. Among other sights the city tour will show you its landmark and 14th C. wooden Chapel Bridge with colorful paintings, some of Lucerne’s picturesque Water Towers and its Lion Monument at the Glacier Garden. Time is yours before our route leads to the principality of Liechtenstein and to its capital Vaduz, situated at the foot of the imposing medieval castle. Following an orientation drive of this small sovereign state and famous for its colorful and artistic stamps, ample time is yours before we return during the afternoon to our hotel in Friedrichshafen. Today’s scenic excursion takes you into Austria travelling along the impressive mountain massifs of Wetterstein and Karwendel to Tyrol’s capital of Innsbruck. Enjoy here from one of the main streets an imposing view of the northern Alpine chain rising up to about 8.000 feet. An easy walk takes you to the pedestrian zone and its landmark Golden Dachl, a most charming mansion with a gilded copper roof, built around 1500 for Emperor Maximilian I to celebrate his wedding. You will be visiting the Hofkirche, a magnificent mausoleum with an exhibition of 28 huge bronze statues of famous former rulers. – Following some free time to do as you please, crossing border back to Germany’s Bavaria to stop at Garmisch Partenkirchen, known as a famous winter sports and health resort amid a breathtaking mountain scenery. See its Parish Church of the 15th C. with remains of old wall paintings and enjoy nearby at Eibsee Station an unforgettable view of German’s highest mountain Zugspitze. – Then your motor coach takes you back to your hotel for dinner. During the morning travelling back to Austria and stop first in Salzburg, truly one of Europe’s most loved cities, dominated by its 11th C. fortress Hohensalzburg. The city tour will show you its Festival buildings, Mirabell Garden to view remains of a luxurious mansion, the Domplatz and its great Cathedral of the 17th C., the Residenz of the former archbishops and site where Emperors Franz-Josef, Wilhelm the I and Napoleon the III met in 1871 after the battle of Sedan. Your tour includes the much visited Getreidegasse and Mozart’s birth-house no. 5. – Following a lunch break, a side trip will take you to Austria’s most picturesque Salzkammergut and to its lake district of Mondsee to see its former Baroque Abbey used for the wedding scene of the wonderful film “The Sound of Music”! Take some postcards with you and return to Friedrichshafen for dinner and overnight. (B & D / OV)
Another most beautiful excursion is waiting this morning as your motor coach takes you right into the Bavarian Alps with our first stop at Hohenschwangau to visit King Ludwig’s fairy-tale Castle Neuschwanstein. This white and dream-like fortress was built 1869 by sketches of a theatrical decorator which explains this atmosphere . You will tour some of the inside apartments with heavy tapestries in Romanesque and Byzantine style, the Singers Hall with fine candelabra and chandeliers, King Ludwig’s unique bed room with artistic wood carvings and an artificial grotto that recalls opera themes of his former friend Richard Wagner. We continue our journey to the old Bavarian town of Oberammergau, world-famous for its original Passion Plays, taking place next 2010. Time is yours to view its beautiful painted houses and its Theatre before a scenic route take us to Bavaria’s most pictured Wieskirche, also called “The Church in the Meadow”. See its interior of marvelous wood-carvings, frescos, stuccoes and most colorful paintings of the 18th C. With long lasting impressions of Bavaria’s great landscape we return to our hotel at Lake Constance. – Dinner tonight is a festive occasion with wine and local entertainment.
